2025 Mini Cooper JCW electric: Design and features
The John Cooper Works Mini Cooper has been an icon among the hot hatchbacks in the world. However, with the 2025 Mini Cooper JCW electric, the brand has dropped the word 'hatch' associated with it. In fact, the new Mini Cooper would be officially called 'Mini John Cooper Electric'. Two models - Cooper and Aceman, have been unveiled globally; and these are expected to come to the UAE very soon.
At first glance, the design outlook looks similar to the ICE Mini Cooper. But, look closely and you can notice the different front grille which is aerodynamic and covered, the new front bumper with aero dams, new alloy wheels with high rolling resistance tyres, and a different rear bumper. Being the 'sporty' variant, and justifying the JCW tag, both Cooper and Aceman have sporty body kits, big spoilers, and upsized wheels (R18 on Cooper & R19 on Aceman); when compared to the ICE version. Also, the red roof and ORVMs are standard on both cars along with the red brake calipers.
Step inside and you will immediately notice the sporty cabin layout. The design of the dashboard and cabin is identical to the ICE version, but, the sporty touch is omnipresent. Both JCW models get high-quality leather with red stitching on the dashboard and door pads, the seats are specifically designed to hold the driver and passengers in one place when driving fast. Moreover, the red chequered flag highlights on the dashboard look fantastic on the new 2025 Mini Cooper JCW. Some other key features include:
- Industry-first 9.4-inch circular OLED infotainment screen with speedometer inclusion
- Wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless phone charging, front seat electric adjustment, front seat ventilation
- Panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, ADAS level 2 safety inclusion, 360-degree parking camera, and monitoring

2025 Mini Cooper JCW electric: Battery size, range, charging time, performance
Mini has equipped both electric models with a single battery option i.e. a 54.2kWh Li-ion pack. This IP67-rated battery pack generates 254bhp of peak power and 340 Nm of peak torque. Due to the size and weight differences, the Cooper JCW is able to do 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, while the Aceman does the same in 6.4 seconds. The top speed of both models is limited to 200 km/h.
Speaking of the actual range, the Mini Cooper JCW electric can do up to 404 km per charge, while the Aceman EV can do up to 391 km per charge. Additionally, with the use of a 95kW fast charger, both models can be charged 10-80% in just 30 minutes (or less). Also, to accommodate the EV architecture and to maintain the 'go-karting' characteristic, Mini has tuned the suspension on both models for an enthusiastic driving experience.
2025 Mini Cooper JCW electric: UAE launch date, price, rivals
Currently, there is no information or word from Mini about the new electric models coming to the UAE. However, the UAE has been a top priority for the brand as the Mini Cooper is a popular hatchback car in the UAE. We suspect that the new electric Mini models can land in Dubai and the rest of the Emirati market by the first quarter of 2025. Also, due to their complex EV architecture, the starting price of the electric Mini Cooper could be well above AED 150,000. The primary rival of the electric Mini Cooper would be the newly launched MG4 EV.
