Originally, pickup trucks were intended to be beasts of labor that could toil away without complaining about terrain or climatic conditions. As time went on, these trucks started to transition from simple utilitarian tools to genuine modes of transportation. Thanks to their tough build and a usable bed at the back, pickup trucks could be used as load carriers and, at a pinch, could carry three or more people (including the driver) in the cab.
Looking Cars in UAE?
It didn’t take too long for companies to start seeing the rising potential of these vehicles. In the coming several decades, pickup trucks branched out into two main groups – one primarily intended to carry heavy loads in the back, the other with more cab room that was meant to be used by those who wanted to carry more people. Both of these caught on with their intended buyers in no time, especially in markets such as America and the Middle East.
Obviously, in a market with so many takers, automakers wasted no time in bringing some of their best pickup trucks to the UAE. Today, the region hosts a vast community of pickup truck enthusiasts alongside those that actually use these vehicles for commercial purposes. This article has trucks belonging to both categories. In the meantime, you can also search Cars24 for second-hand cars in Dubai or pre-owned cars for sale in Abu Dhabi.
Mitsubishi L200
Beginning in 1978, Japanese auto major Mitsubishi, introduced the world to the L200. Known as the Triton in some markets, the Mitsubishi L200 is one of the most commonly encountered pickup trucks in the UAE. The outgoing fifth-gen model came about in 2015, and it shares its rugged underpinnings with the popular Mitsubishi Montero Sport SUV. In the UAE, the Mitsubishi L200 is primarily sold by Al Habtoor Motors, with prices starting from around 55,000 dirhams.

However, if you are looking for used Mitsubishi cars in Sharjah or other cheaper old cars in Ajman, then Cars24 is a great place to start. On the other hand, if you are shopping for a brand-new Mitsubishi L200, it is available in shades of Blue, Orange, Silver, and White among others. The Mitsubishi L200 (Double Cab) measures 5,300mm in length, 1,815mm in width, and 1,795mm in height. It also has a wheelbase of 3,000mm and can haul up to 1,080 kg of cargo in its bed.
Compared to its predecessor, the fifth-gen L200 looks far more urbane and sporty. Of course, this applies a lot more to the family-friendly variants. There’s now a more attractive front fascia which is dominated by Mitsubishi’s “Dynamic Shield” grille, with chrome inserts, sleek headlamps, and bumper-integrated fog lamps and a skid plate. Not much has changed on the sides, though the deep wheel wells and flared arches look good enough, while the 18-inch alloy wheels look pretty decent as well.
The rear of the Mitsubishi L200 looks quite bland, with barely any noteworthy visual stimulants. There are vertically-stacked clear lens taillights and a chrome garnished bumper, and that’s about it. Moving onto the inside, the L200’s interior is a smorgasbord of cheap but tough plastics. Having said that, the seats are fairly good and all the controls are easy to use. In its Double Cab form, the L200 gets rear seats that can accommodate three adults without much fuss. Then again, this rear bench is not what you would call ‘comfortable’.
The equipment list of the Mitsubishi L200 is quite basic, with barely any really modern tech present. The highest trim level of the L200 comes with keyless entry, power windows, a manual air-conditioning system, a two-DIN audio system with CD player, USB connectivity and 4 speakers, and a height adjustable driver’s seat. Meanwhile, this pickup’s safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, and Active Stability and Traction Control.
In the UAE, the Mitsubishi L200 is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 126hp and 194Nm of torque. This can be routed either to the rear wheels (2WD) or all fours (4WD) via a 5-speed manual transmission. If you really push it, the L200 can go past 100 kmph in about 11 seconds or so, while top speed is around 170 kmph.

Isuzu D-Max
While the Isuzu D-Max has only been in existence since the early 2000s, it is already in its third generation (which came about in 2019). Compared to most of its peers on this list, the D-Max is not that old in the grand scheme of things. The Isuzu D-Max donates its platform to the MU-X SUV, though the former is usually considered to be far more successful. In the UAE, the D-Max is sold Genavco in Abu Dhabi, with several other dealers located across the emirates.
The starting price of a new Isuzu D-Max in the UAE commences from around AED 65,000. If your budget is even less than that, fret not, because Cars24 has loads of certified used cars for sale in Sharjah (among other emirates). There are up to 6 different versions of the D-Max on sale in the region, with exterior colors that include Black, Grey, Red, Silver, and White. The new D-Max comes in at 5,265mm in length, 1,870mm in width, 1,790mm in height, and an overall wheelbase of 3,125mm (which is more than its precursor). Depending on the configuration, the Isuzu D-Max can carry up to 1,320 kg of payload in its bed.
The latest avatar of the D-Max confidently looks more aggressive and premium (relatively speaking) than the old model. In its sportiest form, the new Isuzu D-Max features a new and large blacked-out front grille, modern headlamps with LED DRLs, and a better-sculpted bumper with faux fins and a bash plate. Decorating the sides are glossy and flared wheel arches that house 18-inch all-black alloy wheels, plus all-black running boards and door mirrors. As for the back of the new D-Max, it gets an updated bumper and taillights.
When put next to its archaic predecessor, the new D-Max’s interior looks and feels undoubtedly more premium. However, that is not to say that the quality of materials is high-grade, as there are enough scratchy plastics here to remind you of this pickup’s low price tag. Cabin comfort is average for the class, though it is certainly not class-leading. The seats are adequately supportive, though the overall cabin experience is not exactly pleasing. On the other hand, the high seating position and the growl of the turbo-diesel engine might be to your liking.
In terms of its features, the latest Isuzu D-Max can be had with keyless entry with push-button start, a leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel, power windows, a new touch-infotainment head unit with smartphone connectivity, a 4-speaker audio system, cruise control, automatic climate control, a height adjustable driver’s seat, and electrically adjustable door mirrors. On the safety front, the D-Max comes with tech such as two airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, rear parking sensors with a rearview camera, and ISOFIX anchor points.
Under the hood, the Isuzu D-Max can be had with either 1.9-liter turbo-diesel or a 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel. The former kicks out 163hp with 360Nm, while the latter is good for 190hp and 450Nm of torque. In terms of transmission options, the D-Max can be had wither a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. If you are worried of breakneck performance, don’t be. This is because the D-Max will take at least 12.5 seconds to touch 100 kmph. As for its top speed, that lies somewhere around 170 kmph.

Ford Ranger
Based on the Everest SUV, the Ford Ranger is one of the best all-rounders in its class. In the UAE, the Ranger starts from around 74,000 dirhams and is sold by Al Tayer Motors. As of now, it is the American brand’s cheapest pickup truck in the region. Available in Single and Double Cab versions and in up to 7 different variants, the newest avatar of the Ford Ranger went on sale back in 2019.
As always, one can find even cheaper but equally well-listed options for used Ford cars in Dubai on Cars24. The new Ford Ranger can be had in one of up to 10 exterior colors – the list includes Absolute Black, Blue Lightning, Copper Red, Diffused Silver, Frozen White, and Saber. In the size front, the Ranger measures in at 5,359mm in length, 1,977mm in width, 1,848mm in overall height, and has a wheelbase of 3,220mm. As for its maximum payload, the Ford Ranger can carry loads of up to 1,252 kg in its bed.
In its ‘adventurous’ yet stylish Wildtrak outfit, the new Ford Ranger does look like it means business. Apart from a couple of specific color options, the Wildtrak model also gets plenty of dark chrome trim on the outside, plus matte finish side steps, beefier side rails, gray painted front grille, mirror-integrated puddle lamps, LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, and larger roof rails. The tailgate features a large “Ranger” branding, while the chrome rear bumper, haunched fenders, and the Wildtrak special 18-inch dark alloy wheels rounds up the exterior styling details.
In its more expensive trim levels, the Ford Ranger’s cabin does look quite modern and up-to-the-task. The Wiltrak variant gets orange stitching on every leatherette surface, orange ‘Wiltrak’ logo on the dashboard and floor mats, and an overall better feeling interior. Then again, you will have to put up with some cheap plastic bits as this interior has enough of those. As for the creature comforts, the Ranger comes with keyless entry with push-button start, adaptive cruise control, an 8-inch SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment head unit with 6 speakers & navigation, LED ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a power adjustable driver’s seat.
The Ford Ranger is also equipped with features such as 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Pre-Collision Mitigation with pedestrian detection, Active Park Assist with Parallel Parking, Lane Departure Warning, Hill Descent Control, an Electronic Diff-Lock, and a rearview camera. In the UAE, the Ford Ranger is offered with up to three powerplants. The base motor is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 164hp and 226Nm of torque. Then there is a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel unit that makes 158hp and 385Nm and a 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbo-diesel that outputs 197hp and 470Nm of torque.
The transmission is handled by either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, depending on the variant. In its most powerful form, the Ford Ranger can go from 0 to 100 kmph in around 10.5 seconds, while its top speed is 180 kmph.

Nissan Navara
In the mid-size pickup truck genre, the Nissan Navara is one of the most successful – even more so in the commercial sector. The Navara has been around since the mid-1980s, in one way or another. Moreover, this is such a renowned and tough vehicle, that Mercedes-Benz used the latest-gen Navara’s underpinnings for its X-Class pickup truck. Buyers wanting a brand-new Navara in the UAE can either approach Arabian Automobiles Company or Al Masaood Automobiles.
A brand-new Nissan Navara’s price tag starts from AED 76,650, and there are about 5 variants on sale right now. In the meantime, check out Cars24 if you are looking for certified used cars in Abu Dhabi or if you want to buy used Nissan cars in Dubai. The Nissan Navara come sin at 5,336mm in length, 1,850mm in width, 1,808mm in height, and boasts a wheelbase of 3,150mm. As for its payload capacity, the bed of the Navara can handle up to 1.1 tons of cargo.
The Nissan Navara’s exterior color options include shades such as Black, Grey, White, Dark Brown, Orange, and Red Brisk. Meanwhile, the Navara’s design is somewhat of a blend of old-school utilitarian simplicity and some new-age makeup. At the front, the Navara gets Nissan’s “V-Motion” grille flanked by projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The bumper gets fog lamps with chrome inserts and a body-colored skid plate.
The Navara sports deep wheel wells, flared fenders, rather small 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome mirror caps, large side steps and roof rails, and chrome door handles. As for the rear of the Nissan Navara, there isn’t much to look at. It gets a gently-sculpted tailgate, along with large tail lamps, and a chrome garnished bumper. The Navara is probably not the best-looking pickup truck in the market, but at least its design is inoffensive.
Compared to its archaic predecessor, the interior of the new-gen Nissan Navara looks a touch more modern. The steering wheel looks good, especially with its metallic accents and buttons, while the redesigned instrument cluster now sports a useable MID as well. There’s a generous sprinkling of shiny trim to elevate the look & feel of things, though the quality of plastics isn’t all that great. And while the front seats are good and there’s enough kneeroom in the back, the upright back seats aren’t meant for long journeys.
The Nissan Navara’s features list contains items such as automatic LED headlamps, keyless entry with push-button ignition, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 5-inch infotainment head unit, a 6-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a rearview camera. Meanwhile, this pickup’s safety equipment includes ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System, Hill Start Assist with Hill Descent Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring.
In the UAE, the Nissan Navara is powered by a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, but in two states of tune. The base version produces 158hp with 233Nm of torque, whilst the top-spec model comes with 168hp and 244Nm of torque. Meanwhile, transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic. If required, the Navara can claim a top speed of around 170 kmph and the sprint to 100 kmph should come up in 11.5 seconds.

Toyota Hilux
Almost everyone in the world knows about the Toyota Hilux – the seemingly indestructible pickup that’s adored by the general populace and certain fringe factions as well. In continuous production since the late-1960s, the Hilux can be found on almost every continent and country, with the Middle East region being no exception. The latest generation of the Hilux was launched in 2020, and in the UAE, is sold by Al Futtaim Motors.
Priced from just under 78,000 dirhams, the new Toyota Hilux is not a cheap pickup truck. However, you can buy used Toyota cars in Dubai for far less money if you go through Cars24. Coming back to the new Hilux, buyers can choose from around 10 exterior shades: DK Blue, Attitude Black, White Pearl, Emotional Red 2, Nebula Blue, and Orange. As for its size, the Toyota Hilux stretches 5,325mm in length, 1,855mm in width, and 1,815mm in height. Its wheelbase spans 3,085mm, while its maximum cargo capacity is 1,085 kg.
With its recent facelift, Toyota has made the Hilux a lot more attractive (relatively speaking) than its predecessors. This is even more true for the aptly-named ‘Adventure’ trim of the Hilux. Its front fascia looks sporty and bold, courtesy of a revised grille, a beefed-up bumper, and stylish LED headlights. Of course, the cosmetic treatment of this trim is visible all around the exterior – there’s a solid skid plate at the front, even wider wheel arches, new 18-inch alloy wheels, version-specific graphics, and darkened trim all over. That said, even the mid-trim Hilux looks quite good now.
Along with a new and more stylish exterior, the Hilux now also gets an updated and fresh-looking interior. It gets new upholstery options alongside a better-looking and more functional dashboard and controls. And unlike some its rivals, the rear seats of the new Toyota Hilux feels like they have been designed keeping longer travels in mind too. Obviously, while there is some piano black trim and faux leather in this cabin, most of the touchpoints are still hard plastic. However, you shouldn’t have any complaints when it comes to either build quality or reliability – after all, this is a Hilux.
While it is primarily a no-nonsense pickup truck, the Toyota Hilux can be had with some handy modern features. The most noteworthy of which include keyless entry with push-button start, automatic climate control, an 8-inch touch-infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay support, a 4.2-inch color MID, cruise control, front & rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, and split-folding rear seats with an integrated cupholder. Toyota has also fitted the new Hilux with safety measures like 7 airbags, Trailer Sway Control, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control System, ABS with EBD & Brake Assist, Hill-start Assist Control, and a few more.
Toyota UAE sells the new Hilux with 3 engine options – all of which run on petrol, save for one. The base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel with 147hp and 399Nm of torque. Then there is the 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol motor, which puts out 164hp and 244Nm of torque. Finally, the range-topping engine is a 4.0-liter V6 petrol that develops a healthy 235hp and 376Nm of torque. Meanwhile, gearbox options range from a 5-speed manual to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The fastest variant of the Toyota Hilux can touch 100 kmph in around 12 seconds and a top speed of 180 kmph.

Chevrolet Silverado
Just like in the States, the Middle East has become a haven for those that love massive American pickup trucks. One of the first names that will pop into your mind, when talking about American pickup trucks, is that of the Silverado. Chevrolet has been making this truck (and its GMC cousin) since the late-1990s. Today, the Silverado can be found prowling the streets of several Gulf nations. In the United Arab Emirates, the Chevrolet Silverado starts from AED 110,900 and is retailed by Al Ghandi Auto (Dubai) and Bin Hamoodah (Abu Dhabi).
On the other hand, Cars24 has a growing list of pre-owned cars in Ajman and even more second-hand cars for sale in Ras Al Khaimah. Clearly, the Chevrolet Silverado has quite a large footprint. It measures 6,128mm in length, 2,063mm in overall width, and towers 1,990mm in height. Meanwhile, the wheelbase comes in at 3,987mm, with a maximum payload capacity in the bed of 971 kg.
A brand-new Chevrolet Silverado is available in 10 exterior colors. Some of the shades included in the brochure are Black, Summit White, Red Hot, Shadow Gray Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, and Northsky Blue Metallic. There’s no doubt that the Silverado is large and brutish enough to scare away hatchbacks and sedans, like most of these full-size pickup trucks are. Dominating the front of the Silverado is a tall and segmented grille, high-mounted LED headlights, dedicated LED running lights, and a tough front bumper with integrated hooks.
The vast side profile of the Silverado reveals its massive wheel wells and flared arches, large 20-inch alloy wheels, and just the sheer height of the thing. The rear of the Silverado features large tail lamps, faux exhaust tips, a powered rear window, a rear towing hook, and a power-operated tailgate. The interior of the Chevrolet Silverado is equally vast and impressive, with loads of cubbies and storage options. There’s also soft leather, some faux wood and metallic inserts, plus more than enough room for people at the front and back. Build quality has definitely improved over the years, but so has the number of buttons and switches.
Fortunately, the Chevrolet Silverado comes with plenty of amenities and creature comforts. The highlights here include automatic LED headlamps, remote engine start, Continuous Adaptive Ride Control, keyless entry & go, power-operated and climate-controlled front seats, heated rear seats, a 7-speaker Bose premium audio system, an 8-inch color Driver Information Center, an 8-inch touch-infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, Rear Vision Camera Mirror, wireless charging, and multi-zone climate control.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Silverado’s safety suite consists of Forward Collision Alert with Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Automatic Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, front & rear parking sensors, electronic stability & traction control systems, and a multitude of airbags. Overall, the Silverado is available with 4 petrol engines in the UAE. The most exciting one of them is the 6.2-liter V8 with 420hp and 624Nm of torque. It drives all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox, hitting 100 kmph in just over 5.5 seconds!

Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup
There’s no second guessing the capabilities and fortes of the Land Cruiser. Not many 4x4s can claim to be as long-lasting, endurable, dependable, capable, and as widely-known as this Toyota. While many may know the Land Cruiser SUV, not a whole lot are aware of its pickup truck cousin. Known simply as the Land Cruiser Pickup, this old-school relic is sold ‘brand-new’ mostly only in the Middle East. Based on the 70 Series Land Cruiser, this pickup truck has an insane fan-following in the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf nations.
As with other Toyota vehicles, the venerable Land Cruiser Pickup is sold exclusively by Al Futtaim Motors in the UAE. And while it may be old, it is certainly not cheap – starting from nearly 142,000 dirhams. If you want something less strenuous on your wallet, Cars24 has an expansive list of used Toyota cars in Sharjah. There are also many old cars for sale in Fujairah on Cars24, if you are interested. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup comes in Single Cab, Double Cab, and Hard Top versions in the UAE.
In terms of its color options, the Land Cruiser Pickup is usually only available in White and Gold – the latter being common on the commonly-found 2-door version. At its largest, the Land Cruiser Pickup comes in at 5,245mm in length, 1,870mm in width, and 1,955mm tall at the roof. Meanwhile, its wheelbase measures 3,180mm and maximum payload capacity stands at 1,060 kg. One of the main highlights of the Land Cruiser Pickup is its beloved and boxy styling that hails from the 1980s.
No one in the UAE is going to judge you if you drive around in this true-blue pickup truck from the times when electronics weren’t that important in utility vehicles. The almost flat front fascia of the Land Cruiser Pickup sports a sleek yet traditional chrome grille with the “Toyota” lettering. This is partnered up with two halogen headlamps & turn indicators, plus a heavy-duty front bumper with halogen fog lamps and optional LED DRLs (which no one wants). Other styling highlights here include some body graphics, flat-ish windscreen and windows, protruding wheel arches, 16-inch alloy wheels, and an old-school tailgate and taillights.
Depending on how much you are willing to spend, the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup’s interior can be one of two things – old-school & functional or faux modern & ridiculous. In the former setup, you will get a predominantly gray interior with analogue gauges, a 2-DIN audio system, and a lot of plastic for company. Meanwhile, the pseudo modern interior of the other Land Cruiser Pickup variant will try to indulge you with its acres of fake wood and an after-market infotainment head unit. However, if you really want one of these classics, go for the former – looks more period-appropriate and classic.
Speaking of which, the Land Cruiser Pickup’s comes with features like remote door locking, fabric seats, manual air-conditioning, power windows, and a 2-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, AUX & USB support (and even Apple CarPlay & Android Auto). Other items on the list include parking sensors, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control, Hill Assist Control, and a tire pressure warning system. Powering the Land Cruiser Pickup is a 4.0-liter V6 petrol engine with 228hp and 360Nm of torque. This spins all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

GMC Sierra
A close relative of the Chevy Silverado, the GMC Sierra shares almost everything with the former. However, they are definitely not the same (styling or stature-wise) and this GMC has its own audience base. That said, the Sierra is also sold by Al Ghandi Auto in Dubai, and it starts from AED 145,300. Available in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab versions, the Sierra is further divided into at least 5 different trim levels.
In the meantime, you can always check out for pre-owned cars in Umm Al Quwain and certified used cars for sale in Dubai. On the outside, the GMC Sierra can be painted in one of 12 colors – there is Cardinal Red, Deep Mahogany Metallic, Dark Sky Metallic, Onyx Black, Summit White, and Quicksilver Metallic. The GMC Sierra can stretch to up to 5,886mm in length, 2,063mm in width, 1,921mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,745mm. Furthermore, the Sierra can haul around 1,040 kg as payload on its bed in the back.
Depending on the trim you choose, the styling details of the GMC Sierra will change. However, what certainly won’t change is the massive proportions and scale of everything on this truck. The huge and chrome-laden front grille proudly bears the “GMC” logo, which is accompanied by huge C-shaped LED headlamps, and a muscular bumper with integrated LED lights and two towing hooks. Continuing to impress are the muscular-looking 22-inch alloy rims, pronounced but squared wheel arches, modern LED tail lamps, and a power-operated split tailgate.
The interior of the GMC Sierra feels suitably upscale and luxurious, especially if you go for one of the top variants. Just like in the Silverado, everything here feels upscaled and tough (and posher) in appearance. The large seats are not only comfortable, but they also provide enough support for your lower back. Adding to the comfort factor in the Sierra’s cabin is the soft leather upholstery with stitching and pseudo wood inserts. Whether you are large or small, the cabin of this pickup truck will have no qualms swallowing you up.
Similarly, the GMC Sierra is not running short on features and equipment either. It can be had with stuff such as adaptive cruise control, adaptive dampers, adaptive LED headlights, full-keyless entry & go, a heated steering wheel, power-controlled front seats with cooling & heating function, a Bose audio rig, two-zone automatic climate control, a part-digital gauge cluster with an 8-inch MID unit, a wireless charging pad, a widescreen touchscreen infotainment system wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and a Rear Camera Mirror among others.
Some of the other features of the GMC Sierra include Front Pedestrian Detection with Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, plus Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. On top of all this, you get the usual raft of airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System, ISOFIX anchor points, and all-around parking sensors with a rearview camera.
The GMC Sierra shares its powertrain with the Chevrolet Silverado, obviously. This means that it can be had with the same engines as its Chevy counterpart – the most popular of which are the 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8. The former makes do with 355hp and 518Nm of torque, while the magnificent 6.2-liter eight-cylinder rocks the ship with 420hp and 642Nm of twisting force. While the bigger motor comes mated to a 10-speed automatic, the Sierra 5.3 comes paired with an 8-speed automatic tranny. At the high-end, the Sierra will do over 195 kmph, while cracking the ton-mark in 5.7 seconds.

RAM 1500
The Dodge RAM, as it was formerly known as, is one of the most iconic American pickup trucks ever. Then again, it has been a few years since Dodge and RAM became their own separate entities. Currently in its fifth generation, the outgoing RAM 1500 competes with the likes of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. In the UAE, the RAM 1500 is pegged from around 160,000 dirhams. Al Futtaim remains the primary point of contact for brand-new RAM vehicles in the UAE.
Then there is Cars24, with its extensive listing of pre-owned cars in Fujairah, and even more old cars for sale in Sharjah. When it comes to its dimensions, the RAM 1500 comes in at 5,916mm in length, 2,084mm in width, and 1,973mm in overall height. Meanwhile, the RAM 1500 can have a wheelbase of up to 3,672mm and a payload capacity of 886 kg. In the UAE, the new RAM 1500 is available in 10 exterior colors – including Billet Silver, Bright White, Diamond Black Crystal, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue Pearl, and Flame Red.
In most of its avatars, the RAM 1500 comes loaded with chrome on the outside. The wide grille up front is soaked in chrome and given companionship by squared LED headlamps, a chrome bumper with intakes and LED fog lamps. Of course, the bulging hood is there to remind you of the machismo of this pickup truck. Along the sides, the RAM 1500 gets shiny 22-inch alloy wheels, chiseled but well-defined lines, and chrome detailing around the windows.
Finally, the rear of the RAM 1500 now comes with newer tail lamps with LED elements, a massive RAM emblem, and a power-assisted multi-function tailgate. The interior of the new RAM 1500 can definitely be made to feel premium and luxurious – this is no longer just a utilitarian vehicle. In fact, this cabin boasts leather of different colors, while also playing host to silver and wooden trim, and some of the most comfortable seats in the business. Worried about cabin space? Don’t be. You could be sumo wrestler and still fit in here fine.
Obviously, there’s no point if the cabin is only comfortable but then lacks in features. To address this would-be issue, the RAM 1500 comes with kit such as passive entry with push-button start, radar-guided cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, a dual-pane sunroof, LED ambient lighting, power adjustable front seats & pedals with memory function, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, active noise cancellation, a wireless charger, and an electronic parking brake.
At the same time, the new RAM 1500 is chock-full of advanced passive and active safety features. The ones you might discuss with your mates include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Traction Control System, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Damping, Forward Collision Warning with Adaptive Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Surround-View Camera, child restraints etc. The RAM 1500’s 5.7-liter V8 chucks out 395hp and 556Nm of torque, whilst the entry-level V6 Pentastar motor with its mild-hybrid system produces 305hp and 364Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Ford F-150
If there was one synonym for the pickup truck, that would likely be the F-150. Introduced way back in the late-1940s, Ford’s F Series is the world’s longest-running and most successful pickup truck family. And the F-150 is the Blue Oval’s best-selling vehicle in the United States, and one of their top-most liked models in many international markets. Obviously, in a nation that loves its pickup trucks as much as the UAE does, the Ford F-150 is quite popular.
Priced from just above 188,000 dirhams, the Ford F-150 commands the highest price tag among all pickup trucks on this list. And since it is a Ford product, the F-150 is available for purchase via Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors in the United Arab Emirates. On the other hand, you could look to buy used Ford cars in Sharjah or well-priced certified used cars in Ras Al Khaimah. When it comes to buying a new Ford F-150, buyers can avail colors such as Antimatter Blue, Iconic Silver, Guard Green, Kodiak Brown, Lead Foot, Space White, Rapid Red Metallic, and Velocity Blue.
Just like its peers, the Ford F-150 is quite a sizeable vehicle. It comes in at 5,890mm in length, 2029mm in width, 1971mm in height, and an overall wheelbase of 3,993mm. As for its maximum cargo-hauling capacity, the Ford F-150 has a maximum payload of around 1,333 kg. Throughout its lifespan, the F-150 has gone through several facelifts and model updates. All through these changes, one thing that has really stood out about this pickup truck is its domineering and tough persona.
Even in its all-new fourteenth-generation avatar, the Ford F-150 continues to present itself as an amalgamation of tough and premium. Its appearance, especially in its droolworthy Raptor form, is one that will draw people’s attention towards it, sans much of a faff. Jacked up enough to attack sand dunes and piffling man-made obstacles, the F-150 Raptor’s styling is truly eye-grabbing. The front is festooned with LED positioning lights, a blacked-out grille with a massive “ford” emblem, vertically-arranged LED headlamps with signature DRLs, a muscular hood, and a rugged bumper with a bash plate and well-incorporated foglights.
Skimming along the side, the F-150 Raptor’s chunky off-road tires with its 17-inch beadlock wheels captures one’s eyes. Then there are the hugely-flared fenders, front-fender LED positioning lights, bucket-loads of ground clearance, and a robust-looking side profile. Around the back, the F-150 Raptor sports a large black plastic trim with an equally prominent ‘Ford’ lettering. Finally, there are the twin-exhaust tailpipes, an underbody spare wheel, and a gun-metal gray rear bumper. Whether it is the Raptor or the standard F-150, this is one good-looking pickup truck.
On the inside, the Ford F-150’s cabin comes across as a modern and well-equipped place. The design is fairly smart and well thought-out, while the combination of comfort and practicality is up there with the best. From the intelligently-designed & motorized gear lever to the large infotainment display with Ford’s latest SYNC interface, this cabin is pretty contemporary in its approach to modern-day motoring. There are quite a lot of soft-touch materials in here, while space is a complete non-issue.
As for features, the Ford F-150 comes with a powered tailgate, adaptive LED headlights with Auto Highbeam, powered side boards, automatic wipers, keyless entry & go, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 12-inch digital driver’s display, full-leather upholstery, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and all-around parking sensors with a rearview camera. Managing the safety aspects here are Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Post Collision Braking, Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, and a plethora of airbags.
As you can imagine, the Ford F-150 is available with a multitude of engine options in the UAE. However, the most popular and interesting are the 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. The former makes a healthy 400hp and 555Nm of torque, whilst the Raptor’s twin-turbo engine produces 450hp and up to 690Nm of torque. Regardless of which F-150 you go for, all are equipped with a 10-speed automatic gearbox in the UAE. Of course, the Raptor is the fastest. It will smash past 100 kmph in about 5.7 seconds, while rocking a top whack of 190 kmph.

Conclusion
If there is one market where pickup trucks are truly successful and well-liked (outside of the US), then it is the UAE (and other regional markets). Of course, commercially viable and profitable models such as the Mitsubishi L200, Isuzu D-Max, and Nissan Navara will always have good sales numbers on their side, the Toyota Hilux will keep smiling as its sales zoom past its aforementioned peers.
Then there is the Ford Ranger, which kind of sits in between these as a good start point if you want to combine utility with a fair immersion of premium-ness (relatively speaking). However, if you really want a pickup truck that you can enjoy every day and show-off to your friends, then get ready to spend the big bucks. This is where the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, RAM 1500, and Ford F-150 come in.
These premium pickup trucks not only provide great everyday utility, but their massive rear beds make them quite useful when you really want to haul things. On top of that, these American pickup trucks come with powerful and playful engines that not only sound nice, but can really kick in like that early morning coffee. Then again, these vehicles are also a ‘status symbol’ in this region, so to speak. So, if you are into that, then these should definitely be on your shortlist.
The United States of America has often been described as the land of pickup trucks, and that’s true and befitting. This superpower of a nation does boast plenty and plenty of pickup trucks of all shapes and sizes. However, if you have lived in the United Arab Emirates for long enough, you will know that this relatively small country has more than its fair share of these utility vehicles.

In fact, almost all of the pickup trucks sold in the UAE are either from the USA or Japan. And just like in America, the pickup truck is often used as a lifestyle vehicle in the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries. This means that they have risen to become one of the most well-liked types of personal transportation for many. That’s exactly why Cars24 has handpicked the best pickup trucks in UAE for 2021-22.
