1. Home Charging

2. DEWA Charging Stations

DEWA also allows customers to get an EV Green Charger Card service, which helps in charging EVs at all DEWA charging stations in Dubai. This card helps in paying the monthly charging bills by using the top-up method. The process of getting an EV Green Charger Card is as follows:

Registration: For a new EV Green Charger card, you will need to log in to the DEWA website (click here) or the DEWA mobile app (click here). Once done, you can apply for a new green charger card by submitting the required documents.
Documents Required: To get an EV green charger card via the DEWA website or app, you will have to submit either your Emirates ID, mulkiya, or driving license, as proof of the UAE residency. Once done, you are required to pay AED 500 fees for the card, which can be done through an online transaction service.
Receive Card: Once all the formalities are completed, you will receive your EV green charger card within 3 days.

4. QR Code Scan Method

DEWA has also installed QR scanning codes at 300 EV charging stations in Dubai. Here, you can charge your electric vehicle by simply scanning and activating the charger gun. Different Types of Electric Vehicle Charging in Dubai

There are three main types of electric vehicle charging stations in Dubai. These are as follows:

Public Chargers
These support 2x22kW AC charging with double Type 2 sockets. Depending on the EV and its battery size, these chargers can take 2-4 hours to completely charge an EV.
Fast Chargers
These chargers offer quick charging by either using a 43kW AC charger with a Type 2 socket or a 50kW DC charger and CCS combo sockets. These can charge an EV from 0-80% within 20-45 minutes, depending on the EV type and battery size.
Wallbox Chargers
These chargers are found installed in spaces like shopping mall parking lots. These wall-hanging chargers use 22kW AC charging with a Type 2 socket connection. These types of chargers can take 2-4 hours to completely charge an EV depending on the EV type and battery size.

Cost of Electric Vehicle Charging in Dubai

If you are using the DEWA green electric chargers with a registered account, then you are required to pay AED 0.7/kWh + VAT for AC charging and AED 1.2/kWh + VAT for DC charging. These costs are for individual (non-commercial), business (commercial EVs), and government use.

However, if you are not a registered DEWA user, then you can charge your EV by using time packages. Each package has a different cost depending on the charger type, charging time, and VAT. These are as follows:
