Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: design, interiors, features

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

The Urban Cruiser EV shares its platform with the Suzuki e Vitara. While the chassis and the dimensions are identical to the e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV has a different design outlook. Toyota has redesigned its front with a large smiling face design. A big chrome strip on the nose connects the LED headlights. The front bumper is also simpler in design with a bold appeal.

Meanwhile, its side profile has aerodynamic machine-cut alloy wheels that will get 18- and 19-inch options. The left front fender has a charging port for convenient charging. The rear design gets a coupe-like windscreen design with an integrated spoiler. A large connected LED light and a muscular bumper design embrace the masculinity of its appeal.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

The cabin design is similar to the Suzuki e Vitara, apart from the Toyota logo on the steering wheel. The premium cabin appeal is enhanced by the unique design of the dashboard that gets a connected screen panel. Toyota is offering a 10.25-inch instrument console and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen on the Urban Cruiser EV. It also has a vertical AC vent design with aluminum highlights. The center console area has a wireless charging pad and drive mode selector. There are ample utility spaces in the cabin. Toyota has also confirmed that it'll get reclining rear seats with a 40:20:40 split ratio setup.

Some other crucial features of the Urban Cruiser EV are as follows:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ambient lighting
  • Leather upholstery
  • Electric front seat adjustment with ventilation function
  • Reclining rear seats
  • Wireless phone connectivity including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: battery, specs, range

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Toyota will offer two battery pack options with the Urban Cruiser EV - 49kWh and 61kWh. Both of these battery options will get a FWD system, while the latter will also get an AWD system as optional. The 49kWh battery pack variants will churn 144hp of peak power and 189Nm of peak torque.

Meanwhile, the 61kWh battery pack variant with FWD will generate 174hp of peak power and 189Nm of peak torque. However, the AWD variant with the 61kWh battery pack will get an additional rear axle motor producing 65bhp more; taking the total to 184hp and 300Nm power and torque figures.

Toyota will also offer a 'Trail Mode' that will enable the AWD variant to conquer rough off-road sections easily. Moreover, different drive modes will help the driver by enhancing comfort and convenience. For now, Toyota has not revealed the range of the Urban Cruiser EV but we suspect that it'll be more than 350 km per charge for the bigger battery version.
