Upcoming Mitsubishi Montero Sport: What To Expect?
Spotted recently, a heavily camouflaged test mule has leaked online. The leaked images give us a glimpse that the new Montero Sport will be identical to the current gen model in terms of size. However, look closely into the photos, and the new front fascia that has a different grille, new LED headlights, and a revised bumper; are all visible. However, the side profile looks unchanged due to the glass area design. The unique C-pillar design still stands out on the test mule as well.
The online report also suggests that the new Montero will be based on a new chassis, possibly. Mitsubishi is said to use the platform carried over from its Triton SUV, to develop the new Montero Sport. With that said, it is evident that the new Montero is still in the early stage of development. Hence, there is a possibility that its design will be radically different than the current model.
Currently, there are no insights about its interiors, but, we can safely assume that the cabin design will also undergo a complete revamp. Catering to the online report, the interiors of the new Montero could be identical to the Triton SUV. The current-gen model already has connected features like the powered tailgate, 360-degree parking camera, powered front seat adjustment, and more. The new model is expected to bring extensive upgrades like a connected infotainment and speedometer screen, wireless connectivity, wireless phone charging, etc.
Under the hood, the new generation Montero Sport is likely to be powered by the same powertrain options as the current generation. Hence, the 2.4L turbo-diesel and the 3.5L turbo-petrol engine options will continue powering the upcoming Montero Sport. Both of these engine options come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission on the current model.
However, it is still an assumption that the new car will get the same engine options, as Mitsubishi has not revealed any details regarding the updated model. So, when will it roll out? Well, the new model development is still ongoing and it won't be anytime before the end of 2025 or early 2026 that the world will witness the debut of a new-gen Montero Sport.
Lastly, it will come to the UAE market for sure but there is still a long time in it. Meanwhile, if you love the Montero, we have multiple used Montero Sport SUVs in Dubai for you.
