Range Rover Electric - battery, performance, specifications
Land Rover has been testing its upcoming Range Rover Electric SUV for long. Not so long ago, the test cars were showcased undergoing testing in the Arctic Circle. Now, the latest images show the upcoming EV undergoing 50-degree plus heat testing in Sharjah's Al Badayer desert. As per the brand, it is crucial to test the EV in such extreme conditions because it will feature a new thermal management system. Range Rover claims that it is a revolutionary system that will enhance cabin comfort even while operating in extreme conditions.
Additionally, Range Rover Electric will not get an ABS-based traction control system. It will be replaced by a trademarked Intelligent Torque Management system. As per the brand, this system delivers the power to each electric motor in order to reduce the traction control reaction time. During testing, this system has brought the reaction time from 100 milliseconds to 1 milliseconds. Hence, the off-road capabilities of the electric Range Rover will be equivalent to its ICE counterpart.
While the battery size, performance figures, and specifications are yet to be revealed, Range Rover says it will feature an 800V charging architecture. Hence, rapid charging will be available for the big battery setup. Also, Range Rover officials have given a hint that it'll get an equally powerful setup as its ICE siblings. Just for reference, the current V8 Range Rover generates 530 hp of peak power. Also, it has a high water wading capacity of 850 mm, which the EV might also offer.

Range Rover Electric - design and features
The prototype cars shown in the released images, look identical to the 2022 Range Rover SUV. There are slim to none changes in its design when compared with its ICE siblings. Moreover, even Range Rover officials have hinted that the EV version will carry the legacy and subtle nature of the Range Rover's design philosophy. Perhaps, we can safely assume that the Range Rover Electric will not get a lot of distinguishing design elements from the other models in the range.
The cabin design is also expected to remain more or less similar. A possibility is that it will get a few unique EV-related design highlights, but that's about it. The premium experience of the cabin with the latest connected features is expected to remain unchanged on the electric version of the Range Rover.
Range Rover Electric - UAE launch timeline, price, and rivals
The Range Rover cars are already one of the best-selling luxury vehicles in the UAE. Its electric version is also in hype among auto enthusiasts around the Emirates. While Range Rover officials have not revealed any launch timeline for the electric version, we suspect that it'll debut globally by mid-2025. Which means, it will possibly launch in the UAE by late 2025. The current Range Rover range in UAE starts from AED 561,300 to AED 950,000. However, the Range Rover Electric will definitely top out this price tag because of its complex build.
Moreover, Range Rover will be initially manufacturing the electric version in the UK itself. Even the batteries will be sourced third-party as per the officials. Later on, when the India-based facility becomes operational, it will get a complete in-house electric setup. Currently, the direct competitors for the upcoming electric Range Rover in the UAE are Mercedes-Benz EQS, Audi Q8 e-tron, and BMW iX.
