What is Road Rage & How to deal with it?
We’ve all experienced it. When someone cuts in front of you or drives recklessly putting other at risk, it angers us to no end. Driving can be stressful already, and things like this can cause you or others to lose their cool. All this hostile driving can lead to unsafe driving conditions & make you prone to accidents. So, what should you do if you encounter road rage? Read on to find out
How to manage your own road rage?
To start with, plan ahead. In most cases we get frustrated when driving because we’re in a hurry to get somewhere. Starting early will give you plenty of buffer time and you can relax even if you’re a few minutes late.
But what to do, when you’re already stuck in traffic? Well, breathe & try to relax. Even if you’re late to an impotant event, there is nothing you can do. So, its better to not let traffic ruin your mood. Switch on the radio, or tune into a podcast to distract yourself.
Other things you can do are staying clear of cars that are driving unsafely, allowing plenty of space between the car in front of you, and not reacting harshly when someone makes a mistake.
Keep your cool, never gesture rudely to other drivers & never stop to confront anyone.
What to do if you’re the victim of road rage?
If another driver acts aggressively towards you, first of all, don’t engage.
It can be tempting to respond when someone is being rude to you, but it’s only going to escalate things. It’s better to just safely change lanes and drive away.
Do not stop and do not get out of your vehicle in such a situation. If you feel it necessary, you can take down the number of the car to report in case of trouble.
Take care & drive safe!!
