2026 Nissan Sentra - What to expect?

The Nissan Sentra has been a popular mid-size sedan globally. However, it is due for a long required update since its last update in 2020, and that’s what Nissan has been working on.

The latest spy shots incoming from Michigan, showcase a test car, believed to be the 2026 model Sentra. This new-gen model is likely to get a new chassis, a new cabin with more space, and efficient powertrain options including hybrids.

As per the online report, the test car was seen driving along with an Altima, which initially led to confusion about whether it could be the new-gen Altima itself.

However, close inspection of the spy shots reveals to us that it is indeed a Sentra prototype. Another interesting point to note is that it is bigger than the current model.

The test car appears to be longer and wider in terms of dimensions.

Design, features, and safety details

While the test car is heavily camouflaged, the design highlights are visible partially. The front end, for example, gets a design inspired by the N7 electric sedan, which was recently launched in China.

Additionally, the sleek LED lights and a stretched fascia make it look sharp and aggressive. Another impressive highlight is the sharp vertical slats on the front grille section; adding to the futuristic look.

Similarly, the side profile has a sloping roof design and unique-looking V-shaped alloy wheels. The roofline and the rear quarter design enhance its sporty appearance.

The rear profile, although partially visible, shows a new boot lid with LED lights and a connecting light bar.

Engine, performance, and mileage

The current generation Sentra uses a tried and tested 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, 149 bhp, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It is mated to a CVT automatic transmission and provides a smooth and efficient performance.

However, considering the rise of hybrid technology on the market, we assume that the new-gen Sentra could offer a new hybrid engine option as well.

There are also rumours that Nissan might introduce a new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that will likely generate 201 bhp of peak power.

UAE launch timeline and price

As far as the launch timeline is concerned, Nissan has not revealed any official info about this upcoming sedan. In fact, the confirmation itself of this being a new-gen Sentra is yet to be announced.

Speaking of the UAE market, the Sentra has been a popular sedan and it remains in a consistent demand in the used sedan cars in the UAE.

We expect that the 2026 Sentra will be introduced later this year in the global market. Hence, the UAE launch will be possible in the first half of 2026 only.
